Confirmed Identifications and Escapees

Posted in >

Not all of Britain's mystery felids remain entirely elusive or beyond the wit of man to capture. Several big cats have been captured and/or killed in the British Isles over recent decades - and as often as not identified as escapees. While nothing as dramatic as the lion that was said to have terrified rail passengers in 2011 has been brought to ground, a fair number of smaller big cats such as Lynxes and Leopard Cats are now living on in taxidermical style in hallways and museums.

As author and researcher Neil Arnold has pointed out - several non-native cat species have been captured or remain at large.
