Godalming Police Station's Surrey Puma footprint
7th September 1966

Posted in > >

In the 1960s the police station at Godalming kept on display a plaster cast of a pawprint, identified by experts from London Zoo as that of a puma.

The print was taken by PC Bill Cooper at Stileman's Racing Stables near Hascombe.

The print was said to be of prodigious size - too large, in fact, to belong to the animal reported by most eyewitnesses at the time.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone who resided in the area who saw this plastercase, or can shed lights on its whereabouts today.
