Fireball Seen over UK

Skywatchers across Northern Britain were stunned around 21:40 on the 4th March when a huge fireball traversed the sky. Emergency services from Scotland to the Midlands (although a smattering of calls were recorded as far South as Devon) were called in response to what members of the public took to be a crashing aircraft.

Whether the fireball was crashing space debris or a rocky meteorite has not yet been established, but a smattering of films were taken that showed the meteor's firey passage across the night sky.

YouTube comment threads were alight with talk of conspiracy and a precursor to the supposed Niburu event - in which believers claim a planetoid will pass close to Earth (or even directly impact it) causing colossal destruction and perhaps the end of life itself.
