11 year old Steven disappeared on the 2nd September 1969 and has never been seen since. His mother Jean reported him missing at the time, and various sightings were established on the day of his disappearance, but the trail is now long cold. The last reliable sighting is considered by the police to have been at around 7pm, when he was seen near the Hindringham turn of the A148.

He was the eldest of 4 children and despite a small degree of trouble in his family background - his mother had separated from his father and was living with a new partner at the time of his disappearance - there is no known reason for him to abscond.

In 2013, his mother spoke movingly to the local press about the last time she saw her son.

"It was the school holidays and he was playing with a friend. He said he was going to his friendís house for dinner. The last thing I said to him was 'donít be any later than 8pm.' When he wasnít back by 9pm I called the police and have never seen him since. There have been reports of sightings and theories about what happened to him but never anything concrete."
