'Fafrotsky' is a portmanteau of "falls from the sky" - a term coined by Ivan T. Sanderson to describe objects which apparently fall from the heavens when they have no reason being there in the first place. Perhaps the most commonly known example of fafrotskies are the occasional 'rains of fishes' that occur around the world. If the phenomena was purely confined to fish then perhaps there would be no great mystery - but in fact rains of nuts, frogs, stones, blood and a host of other strange objects both living and inanimate are recorded as having pelted down onto unsuspecting towns and villages for centuries.
